Alki Beach Remodel
This dramatic modern and view-filled remodel bears no resemblance to its former self, a 1000 square foot 1950s bread-box beach home. It was expanded to 3,500 square feet, and a new second level added. The floor plan was inverted to put bedrooms on bottom, and common living areas on top to take advantage of water views and the adjacent little league ball field – making this the ideal home for its tenants, a former semi-pro baseball pitcher and his family. The new second level includes an expansive deck with southern views of Puget Sound. This was also a corner lot with tricky code compliance issues. The existing non-conforming house was cut back three feet in order to successfully blend the old home with the new addition.
